COVID Update

8/12/2020

We have been taking extra precautions during this time while having adopters visit.  Everyone wears a mask, lots of handwashing and hand sanitizer.  No hugging or shaking hands, disinfecting door handles, and wiping down couches, etc.  In spite of all the restrictions, we are having some adoptions and have 6 kittens getting ready for adoption.  Below is the 2020 kitten crop.

Pandemic

Even though we are going through an extremely challenging time, rescuing animals does not take a break.  Many people are surrendering their pets from fear of contracting the corona virus from them.  That is not the case, however.  We have had record adoptions during the pandemic so far.  Several of our long-term kitties have found forever homes.  We have two new kittens arriving today.  They are about 9-10 weeks old and are a bonded pair.

The 2019 Kitten Season has rushed in like a lion.  All the rescues are full to overflowing with families and kittens.  We have accepted several kittens from other rescues and several cats and kittens from the public.  Two of our young cats are Butters and Frankie.  They are pictured here, along with several of our current kittens.

Hurricane Season 2017

9/6/2017

On August 25, 2017, Hurricane Harvey roared ashore in south Texas.  Harvey stalled out over south and southeast Texas dumping over 50" of rain.  Hundreds of thousands of homes were flooded.  Chemical plants in the Houston area were flooded.  Thankfully, only a handful of human deaths were recorded.  Unfortunately, thousands of domestic animals were displaced.  Dogs and cats were routinely denied evacuation with their human counterparts.  Therefore, we are dedicating the rest of the year to rehoming cats that were once someone's pet and rescued from the floods.

As I write this, I am watching Florida evacuate in front of Hurricane Irma - the largest Category 5 hurricane of all time in the Atlantic Ocean.  My heart aches for the people and animals that may lose their lives in the impending devastation.  There are so many animals in the direct path of this historic storm.  Be part of the solution - please spay and neuter your pets.  If you are looking to add a member to your family, please adopt and not shop.  There will be many adoptable animals available to rescues throughout the affected areas.

Adoptions, Adoptions, Adoptions

8/8/2017

WOW!  Fluffy's Friends has found homes for over 50 cats so far this year!  Just today, five kitties were adopted.  This year we have been very fortunate that adoptions have been steady all year long.  We have kittens, medical rescues, owner surrenders, and rescues from high kill shelters.  We are so proud of the hard work and dedication of the staff at Fluffy's Friends.  It literally takes a village to accomplish everything we do.  From tagging cats for rescue, transporting cats to the rescue, trips to the vet, cleaning, medicating, feeding, and playing with the kitties, ordering supplies, advertising for adopters, screening adopters, and finally arranging transport for the kitties to their forever homes.

It's Kitty Season!

It may be kitten season, but we are busy rescuing lots of adults at Fluffy's Friends.  Two senior kitties have been surrendered to us and they are looking for their forever homes.

Maggie is an 11 year old purebred ragdoll.  She is a chocolate point ragdoll with piercing blue eyes!  Maggie is in great health and full of life.  She is front declawed, spayed and current on vaccinations.  Maggie is sweet, social, and inquisitive.

Valentino is also 11 years old.  He is a huge, gorgeous lilac point ragdoll.  Valentino came from a sanctuary and is shy at first, but is inquisitive and social.  Valentino is in great health, very playful, and sweet.  He is neutered and current on vaccinations.

Many Kitties Going to Furever!

3/14/2017

This month we have 5 kitties going to their furever homes!  Molly is going to Conneticut, Ginny is going to Vermont, Heidi and Dakota are going to Ohio, and Maximus is going to a local adopter!  This is very unusual for us to have juvenile and adult kitties adopted during kitten season, but we're not looking this gift horse in the mouth! In addition, Peekaboo, Dory, bonded pair Rudy & Gisha, and Nemo were recently adopted.  YAY!
